Dwayne Johnson will take on the lead role for the cult-favorite according to The Wrap! Check out the full story after the break.
Coming off his big win at the box office with San Andreas, Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson has been confirmed by 20th Century Fox as the lead for the studio’s remake of Big Trouble in Little China.
The original film released in 1986 and starred Kurt Russell, but the theater run didn’t see much action in theaters, grossing $11 million overall. The film, as seems to be a continuing trend with today’s media availability, found a second life as a cult favorite (it’s currently streaming on Netflix!), which is what helped prompt Fox to take on the remake.
The new version was pitched to the studio by Johnson’s own production company Seven Bucks Productions and has X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zach Stentz attached to write the script.
