The Wrap is confirming that Sony is aiming to join the Jump Street world with Men in Black…you heard right. Click through to see more details.
On top of the universe collision route, Sony will also be producing a female-focused version as a spinoff a la the recent Ghostbusters reboot.
So far, there is no word yet on the plot for either movie, but the studio has brought in Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs get started on the female version.
With a successful reboot of the Jump Street franchise with 21 Jump Street back in 2012 and then an even more successful sequel 22 Jump Street, Sony is banking on the same winning combination of stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum along with producer Neal Moritz and directing duo Chris Miller and Phil Lord to take this out-of-the-box crossover idea into the stratosphere when it releases. The same filmmakers will likely have a large hand in getting the female spinoff going as well.
